Senior Head, Cannabis for Medicinal and Research Purposes - Malta Medicines Authority
A pharmacist by profession and Doctorate in Pharmacy graduate from the University of Malta, Dylan Said has been engaged with the Malta Medicines Authority since 2016 and currently holds a Senior Head position relating to cannabis for medicinal and research purposes. In the context of pharmaceutical and medicines regulation, Dr Said has a wealth of experience in strategic planning, operations management and international affairs, alongside regulatory competence on EU rules against falsified medicines. He was the national representative in the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) Communications Working Group and in the European Commission Expert Group on Safety Features. His research endeavours and interest comprise the study of pharmacoeconomic implications in the preparation of anticancer admixtures and the development of tools that streamline regulatory and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) evidence requirements during the clinical development of medicines, specifically those indicated in leukaemic disease; research outcomes were presented in several local and foreign colloquia, including in Cannes (France), New Orleans (USA), Barcelona (Spain), Krakow (Poland) and Abu Dhabi (UAE). He is also involved as a tutor in didactic activities with pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology students at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta.
